FAQ

What is the difference between microblading, powder brows, and combo brows?

Microblading is a technique that uses a manual hand tool consisting of several needles to form a “blade”. The microblade is used to draw natural hairlike strokes to imitate your natural brow hairs to give the illusion of a fuller brow.

Powder Brows also know as microshading are brows created using a machine to insert pigment into the skin using a dotting or pixelization technique. This technique gives the brows a misty, powdered effect which is soft, yet defined and is similar to makeup.

Combo Brows also known as “blade & shade” uses a combination of both microblading and microshading. This technique allows you to achieve a more defined filled in brow while keeping the front of the brow more natural.

How do I know which one is right for me?

Your skin type, personal preference, and your lifestyle all factor into choosing the right technique! Not all methods are suitable for each person. We will decide together what the best option is for you to achieve brows you love.

  • Microblading - dry/normal/combination skin is ideal for microblading. Oily skin or clients that sweat a lot aren’t great candidates for microblading as the sweat/oil will cause the strokes to become blurry and undefined. Microblading is done to blend in with your natural brow hair, clients with little or sparse hair might want to opt for powder or combo brows instead.

  • Powder Brows - this technique is great for all skin types! Ideal for clients who typically fill in their eyebrows with powder or use a stencil. Soft shading makes powder brows heal very natural.

  • Combo Brows - dry/normal/combination/mildly oily, mature, or sensitive skin is suitable for powder brows. A good option for clients who want the definition of hair strokes but aren’t eligible for a full microbladed brow due to their skin type.
